Adèle Sica

// Adèle Sica Biography

At the age of 10, Adèle’s mum was driving her home from school when Adèle suddenly said: “mum I want to be on television”, a desire that lead to Adèle gaining entry to the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School.

There, Adèle learned her craft but with her parents afraid she might not do well academically, she was then sent to a private all girls’ school. “Sylvia Young was a great training ground vocationally” Adèle says, “and the school gave me a lot of confidence.”

Adèle left the girls’ school with A and B grades in her G.C.S.E.s and then went on to do a degree in Performing Arts and Media, acting in small parts along the way. “I continued to follow my dream, singing, dancing and acting. I love all three. In between auditioning and going to acting classes I would work doing different jobs from a waitress to managing a beauty salon, but I became frustrated and unhappy because I was beginning to let my dream slip through my hands.”

It was then that Adèle landed her first major TV role in ‘Turning Points’, a TV Drama for the BBC (view clip) where she found herself chosen to play the lead character. This, Adèle says, is when she knew how much she loved performing. “To be getting paid to do something you love is the biggest buzz and one of the most fantastic feelings ever – other than being in love, sigh!”

Adèle had her first taster for TV presenting in 2000 when she was one of five young presenting talents chosen for a new programme Trouble TV. Viewers were asked to vote for their favourite and Adèle won, but such is the nature of TV that for reasons unknown the complete series was never commissioned.

One afternoon in 2003, after reading ‘The Stage’ (a popular newspaper amongst industry people), Adèle spotted an advert for presenters for a new shopping channel called price-drop.tv, and the rest as they say, is history. After being selected from thousands of hopefuls for bubbly down-to-earth personality, Adèle was one of the presenters chosen to launch the new channel and has been appearing on price-drop and sister channel Speed-Auction TV ever since.
